GOD WORKS ON PURPOSE Galatians 4:4-7 Galatians 4:4-7 Focus on Galatians 4:5 “so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons and daughters” (NASB) God is at work redeeming what was lost in the fall. God’s primary purpose in sending His Son was to redeem us. The word “redeem” (exagorazó) primarily means to buy back. We were bought with a price that only Jesus could pay. (1 Corinthians 6:20) The idea of freeing from bondage or captivity to the law and sin. We have been set free from the law by the work of Jesus. (see Romans chapter 6) It is making the most of an opportunity, particularly in the context of time. We join God in His redemptive plan for the world. (Ephesians 5:15-17) God is at work ready to give the greatest gift to all who will receive it. Jesus is the gift given so that we can become children of God. - John 1:12 God clearly calls us from “some things” to “some things”: Out of the darkness into His marvelous light! 1 Peter 2:9 We were not a people, but now we are the people of God! 1 Peter 2:10 We were blind, but now we see! John 9:25 We had eyes that were not open, but now we have eyes that have seen the light of the glorious Gospel! 2 Corinthians 4:4 We were in the power of Satan but now we are in Power of God! We did not have an inheritance but now we have an inheritance! We did not have forgiveness for our sins but now we have forgiveness for our sins! We were not sanctified by faith but now we are sanctified by our faith in Jesus! Acts 26:18 We were not God’s children but now we are God’s children!
