HE IS BLESSING US IN CHRIST Ephesians 1:3-14 Goodness of God —The Blessings of Redemption Creation/Fall/Redemption/Restoration Redemption I am Redeemed and I am being Redeemed - Justification - Sanctification - Glorification God is good—He is blessing us IN CHRIST. In Christ - we have the blessing of being chosen. Ephesians 1:3-6 . We were chosen before the foundation of the world (v. 4) God’s choice of us had nothing to do with our ability or merit - we didn’t do anything to be chosen. - we can’t do anything to be unchosen. - we were adopted as God’s children because of his will. (v.5-6) - God’s grace was lavished on us in the Beloved One. - Jesus is the Beloved One. In Christ - we have the blessing of redemption. Ephesians 1:7-10 - we have been forgiven of our sins. (v.7-8 - we were bought by the blood of Jesus. - we are included in God’s plans. (v.9-10 - we have been given the ability to know God and know His will. - we are part of the redemption plan of God. - everything will be brought together in Christ. - things in heaven and things on earth. In Christ - we have the blessing of receiving an inheritance. Ephesians 1:11-12 - We have been given the great blessing of what is coming. (v.11) - Our inheritance is reserved for us. - 1 Peter 1:3-5 - We have reason to bring praise. (v. 12) - our hope is in Christ. In Christ - we have the blessing of being sealed with the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1:13-14 - We have been given the Holy Spirit as a down payment of all that is to come. - We have been sealed by the Holy Spirit. (v. 13) -We have the security and promise of making it home! (remember 1 Peter 1:5 “we are kept by the power of God”) Next Steps: - Is the Holy Spirit confirming in your heart that you are “In Christ”? - If you aren’t sure call on the name of Jesus now and be saved. - If you are “In Christ” each day this week, thank Father for his goodness and blessing in your life.
