Sermon Notes July 13, 2025
1 Peter 1:1-2
“Peter, … To those chosen, living as exiles dispersed abroad…”
1 Peter 1:3-12
1 Peter 1:13
“Therefore…”
1 Peter 1:14-16 CSB
14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance.
15 But as the one who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct;
16 for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.
God desires for us to live holy lives, because what unbelievers see in us will determine how they see our Father.
Live in such a way that your life becomes a compelling testimony to everyone around you, showing them what kind of God you serve.
1 Peter 1: 17 CSB
17 If you appeal to the Father who judges impartially according to each one’s work, you are to conduct yourselves in reverence during your time living as strangers.
Matt 5:16,
“16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
- Our conduct is a living demonstration of our reverence for our Father.
- Our lives are constantly answering the question for the watching world: "What is your Father like?"
1Peter 1:18 CSB
18 For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life inherited from
your ancestors,
The reason for your redemption is to transform your life from pointless to purposeful.
1 Peter 1:18b-19 CSB
not with perishable things like silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like
that of an unblemished and spotless lamb.
1 Peter 1:20-21 CSB
20 He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was revealed in these last
times for you. 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
Are there any ways you are still living in the old way of life?
Next Step:
-Ask, “Father, what is one way, my life needs to look more like yours?
