GROW YOURSELF Ephesians 4:11-16 We exist to make disciples who connect, grow, and go. Contrast the word “maturity” in v. 13 with the words “little children” in v. 14. - mature is the Greek word teleion which means complete, not lacking. - little children is the Greek word nēpioi which means childish, untaught, and unskilled. Two indicators a believer is not growing in maturity but is still a child. (v.14) 1. Immature believers are UNSTABLE. - They are easily tossed by the waves of thought. 2. Immature believers are UNGROUNDED. - They are easily blown around by false teaching. The result of immaturity is being led away in trickery and deceit. Two indicators a believer is growing in maturity and is no longer a child. (v.13) 1. Growing believers are moving toward UNITY IN THE FAITH. - They have a conviction of the truth. 2. Growing believers are moving toward THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD’S SON. - They have a precise and correct knowledge that is more than facts. Our goal is to become conformed to the image of Christ.
