An Example of Spirit-Led Obedience
• Series: Acts - The Unstoppable Church
Series: Acts PHILIP…AN EXAMPLE OF SPIRIT-LED OBEDIENCE Acts 8 THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL LEAD US TO SPEAK THE WORD Acts 8:4-8 Preaching the word and proclaiming the Christ are the same thing—simply sharing what we have received. - What do we share? - the message of the gospel—“good news”. - Why do we share? - the gospel is the only way of salvation. - Where do we share and with whom do we share? - everywhere (think about our Samaria) - everyone The results of sharing will bring great joy - Don’t be discouraged by opposition and challenges. (the ordeal with Simon the sorcerer) - Continue in faithfulness and trust God to work as He desires. Psalm 126:5-6 (KJV) “They that sow in tears Shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL LEAD US TO GO Acts 8:26-40 The Holy Spirit may not always tell us to do what seems best, right, or logical in our own wisdom. Acts 8:26 - Going to a deserted desert road instead of staying in populated Samaria doesn’t seem to be a great plan in human thinking. The Holy Spirit often arranges divine appointments that make little sense to us but are in the providential plans of God. Acts 8:27-40 This meeting was not accidental, but providential: - the lost man was seeking. (v.27b-28) - the witness was Spirit-filled/ready. (v. 29-33) - the Savior was presented. (v. 34-35) - the lost man trusted Jesus and gave witness to his new faith by being baptized. (v. 36-38) - Philip is raptured and the Ethiopian goes on his way rejoicing. (v. 39-40) Next Step: - God is looking for Spirit-led witnesses to speak His Word and Go where He leads. Will you say “Here Am I, Lord. Send me.”?
