Created to Worship

 • Series: Experiencing Worship

CREATED TO WORSHIP Romans 1:16-20 We are called individually and collectively to a lifestyle of worship that recognizes God’s presence and seeks to honor Him not only when we gather at FiveStone, but also in our daily lives. The Gospel is the power of God to Salvation and Worship. Romans 1:16-17 - Salvation is so much more than getting us to heaven. - God is interested in heaven getting to us. (Beverly Gaventa, in her book When in Romans, said this: “What we also need to hear is Paul’s understanding that the gospel encompasses the cosmos, the whole of creation—all the way out and all the way down in human life.” -p. 46) In creation God intended that we worship him in our moment by moment existence. Romans 1:18-20 - Man was created to worship God by stewarding (caring for or overseeing) the creation where God would make His presence known. Genesis 1:26-31 - Everything was “very good” as man lived worshiping in the presence of God. .. Worship was walking with God. (fellowship) .. Worship was working with God. (stewardship) .. Worship was living intimately with a fellow image bearer. (companionship) - God is restoring in salvation what was lost in the fall. - Creation is declaring the glory of God. Psalm 19:1 - Jesus Christ (the perfect God/Man) is declaring the glory of God. John 1:14 - Believers, filled with the Spirit of God, are declaring the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 2 Corinthians 4:5-6 Next Step: You are created for worship — Fellowship Stewardship Companionship
