JESUS ABOVE ALL THE GREATEST MYSTERY Colossians 1:25-2:5 The Bible speaks of many mysteries —not in the sense of a “who dun it”, but a mystery that the Bible speaks about could be understood this way: Mystery in the Bible: something that was concealed in the Old Testament that has been revealed in the New Testament. - The Mystery of the Kingdom of Heaven (Matt. 13:11) - The Mystery of the Fullness of the Gentiles (Rom. 11:25) - The Mystery of the Gospel (Rom. 16:25-26) - The Mystery of the Cross (1 Cor. 15:51-55) - The Mystery of the Age of Grace (Eph. 3:1-12) - The Mystery of the Church (Eph. 5:25-33) The Greatest Mystery is the Mystery of Christ In You. Colossians 1:25-2:5 A call to minister: (V. 25) - Every believer is commissioned and called to serve. - this is the same word for “deacon” Mark 10:45 A need to understand the mystery: (V. 26-27) - God describes this mystery by using language that speaks to riches. .. Christ in you .. the hope of glory 2 Cor. 5:17 tells us we are in Christ when we come to faith. - There is no wall of separation for the Gentiles (Eph. 2:14) A desire to follow the mission: (V. 28-29) - We are to proclaim Jesus. - the only way for a person to be all that God intends is for them to come to faith and grow to maturity. - God’s power gives us the ability to accomplish the mission He gives us. A passionate plea to know Christ: (2:1-5) - We should recognize the unmatched opportunity we have because of the greatest mystery being revealed to us. - Because Christ is in us: .. our hearts are changed and joined together in love. .. we can have a mature understanding and knowledge of Christ. .. we can be kept from deception. .. we can experience the Holy Spirit.
