Jesus Above All BEING A MEMBER OF GOD’S FAMILY Colossians 1:1-8 Members of God’s family should be joyful: Colossians 1:1-2 We find joy in our calling. - We are all called as “apostles” - Paul was an apostle — of Christ Jesus, by the will of God. We find joy in our community. - we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. - God’s grace — Ephesians 2:8-9 - God’s peace — Romans 5:1-2 Members of God’s family should be thankful: Colossians 1:3-5a We are saved. - through faith in Jesus Christ alone. We have sincere love. - 1 John 4:11 - 1 John 4:20-21 We have hope. - Our hope is secured in heaven. - 1 Peter 1:4-5 Members of God’s family should be missional: Colossians 1:5b-8 We share in the Gospel. - What we have received we are commanded to give.
