The God Who Lives in Us THE SPIRIT’S WORK OF GLORIFICATION John 14:16-17 The Holy Spirit has a ministry of regeneration (salvation), sanctification (growth in Christ), and glorification (ultimately getting us home to the eternal state). The Holy Spirit is given to us as an assurance that our relationship with God is forever secure. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would be with us forever. John 14:16 - This truth means that we will never be separated from God. Ephesians 1:13-14 Ephesians 2:4-6 - This truth means that we are being secured by God and His power, not our own. John 10:27-30 1 Peter 1:3-5 Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would make Himself known to us. John 14:17 - This truth means that we have opportunity to experience and trust God’s true character. John 16:13 - When we truly “KNOW” the Spirit of God we can experience the deepest levels of trust. - Ephesians 1:18-19 - We should know: - the hope of His calling - the riches of the glory of His inheritance (NASB) - the immeasurable greatness of His power Because the Holy Spirit lives in us and is working in us we have total confidence that we will make it home! John 16:22 - The Holy Spirit gives us a joy that this world cannot take away. John 16:33 - The Holy Spirit gives us a peace that this world does not understand.
