The God Who Lives in Us THE SPIRIT’S WORK OF SALVATION John 16:5-11 The Holy Spirit brings conviction - Jesus said there are three aspects of conviction that the Holy Spirit brings. .. Sin .. Righteousness .. Judgment - v. 9 Sin—unbelief in Jesus - we must believe that Jesus is the Only Way of Salvation. John 14:6, Acts 4:12 - v. 10 Righteousness—Jesus went back to the Father and lives to make intercession for us. - v. 11 Judgment—Jesus came to judge and defeat the ruler of this world. (Satan) John 3:16-18 - God desires for all to come to repentance. The Holy Spirit’s conviction helps us see the light—His work of “illumination.” - We see the light of God by His Word. Psalm 119:105, Psalm 119:130 - We see the light of God in God’s children. Matthew 5:14a, Matthew 5:16 The Holy Spirit brings regeneration - We must be made alive by the Spirit of God. - Jesus said “we must be born of the Spirit” to see the kingdom of God.
