The God Who Lives in Us HE IS THE BREATH OF GOD John 20:19-23 The Breath of God: Orders and Empowers our Life - Without the Breath of God our life is formless and empty like the beginning of creation. Genesis 1:1-2 - The Spirit of God was working to bring order and power to the created world. John 20:21-22 - Jesus breathed the Holy Spirit to bring order and power to the disciples. (without the Holy Spirit they had no way to accomplish the mission that was given.) The Breath of God: Supplies the Abundant Life Jesus Promised - The breath of God is what gives physical and Spiritual life. Genesis 2:7 - God breathes on man and we become a “living being” which is different from all the other created animals. .. It is the breath of the Holy Spirit in us that makes us Spiritual beings created in the image of God. .. The Holy Spirit breathed on Mary, and allowed Jesus, who is divine, to be conceived and take on a human nature. .. The Holy Spirit breathed on us, who are human in nature, and enabled us to take on a divine nature. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 - We miss the abundant life when we grieve and quench the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 4:30 - Thessalonians 5:19 - We can become walking dry bones when we allow sin to control our life. (explain Ezekiel being brought out to the valley of dry of bones by the Spirit—chapter 37 of Ezekiel) Ezekiel 37:7-8, Ezekiel 37:9-10 (Verse 14 says this: “I will put my Spirit in you, and you will live…”) Next Step: - The abundant life in Christ is available if we turn from our sin and ask God to breath fresh life and power in us.
