IN OR OUT — THERE CAN BE NO IN-BETWEEN John 14:16-18 He Is the God Who Lives In Us. - You either have the Holy Spirit or you don’t! - He’s in or out! There can be no in-between. He Is God - The Holy Spirit was active in creation. (Genesis 1:1-2) - The Holy Spirit is Omnipresent. (Psalm 139:7) - The Holy Spirit is affirmed by Jesus as part of The Trinity. (Matthew 29:19) God cannot change - The Holy Spirit is the same in the Old Testament as in the New Testament. - He is the One who teaches us. (Nehemiah 9:20 - John 16:13) - He is the One who convicts us. (Nehemiah 9:30 - John 16:8) He Is the Promise of the Father - Jesus said he was sending the promise of His Father upon us. (Luke 24:49) - In the Old Testament a promise was made regarding God pouring out His Spirit on all mankind. (Joel 2:28-29) - There was a period of preparation. .. Jesus taught us about the Spirit. - There was a period of expectation. .. Jesus said to wait for the Spirit. - There was a period of realization. .. The Holy Spirit came and fulfilled the promise. (Acts 2:33) He Is the Spirit of Christ - When we trust Jesus as our Lord and Savior the Holy Spirit comes and lives in us. - Jesus said this in: (John 14:16-18 - Romans 8:9-11) It is a theological impossibility to have Christ and not have the Holy Spirit. - Two passages that need to be understood in light of this truth: (Acts 8:14-17 - Acts 19:1-7) - When we are saved we are sealed by the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 1:13) - When we are saved we are baptized into Christ by the Holy Spirit.
