GOD’S POWER IN OUR WEAKNESS No King - Sermon Series Judges 6 Bible Project Judges Overview: https://youtu.be/kOYy8iCfIJ4 GIDEON What do you think of when I mention that name? - Gideon’s fleece - Gideon’s army - Gideon’s weakness Gideon (4th major judge) is a turning point of the book—downward spiral and now Gideon is the hinge point in which things get worse and worse in Israel’s disobedience. Gideon is a lesson in God’s power and how we should trust Him. God sends a message before He sends a savior. Judges 6:1-10 - God says, “is your repentance real?” (they cry out to the Lord, v. 6) God sends a sermon before He sends a savior (judge). v. 7-10 -True repentance is different than worldly sorrow. 2 Cor. 7:10 God empowers a weak judge to prove He can be trusted. Judges 6:11-16 - Gideon has lessons to learn about God’s power. - Gideon doubts that he can be a mighty warrior. (God says “I will be with you.”) - Gideon asks for a signs. v. 17-18 v. 36-40 - Both signs seem to point to Gideon desiring to know who God is. - We have been given the greatest sign of who God is by Him raising Jesus from the dead! - Gideon is empowered by the Spirit of the Lord. v. 34 God takes the army from 32,000 to 300 men to prove He brought the victory. Judges Ch. 7 - We must learn the lesson of God’s power in our weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9 God is the only One who deserves the glory for any victory in our lives. Judges 8:22-27 - Gideon said God was king—but he lived as if he was the king. v. 28-31 - We must examine our lives to see if our life matches what we say we believe.
