Anything and Everything Series In the Presence of the God of Peace Philippians 4:4-9 How to trade our unknowns for God’s peace! God desires for us to come into His presence and PRAY. - Do not be anxious about anything. - Do pray about everything. - We are anxious about everything. - We do not pray about anything. In every situation God wants us to talk to Him. - We must persist in prayer. Matthew 7:7 (Keep on asking/keep on seeking/keep on knocking) Luke 18:1 (“pray at all times and don’t give up”—don’t become discouraged.) - We must petition in prayer. James 5:16b God desires to work in us as much as he desires to work for us. (Elijah—is an example in this context/1Kings 17 prays seven times asking his servant to go look at the clouds for signs of rain) God desires for us to come into His presence and LISTEN. In every situation God wants to talk to us. - We must be patient in prayer. Philippians 4:5 - We are to demonstrate a “gentle and gracious” spirit - epieikes (suitable/equitable/fair/mild/gentle) - able to do more listening than talking (2 men here in my life that demonstrate this in a huge way) - You cannot be before others—what you are not before God! Jesus said his sheep hear his voice. (John 10:27) “My peace I give to you, do not let your hearts be troubled or be afraid.” Jesus (John 14:27) - When we come into the presence of the God of peace to pray and listen — He will speak peace over us!
