The Beatitudes "Those Who Hunger and Thirst" Matthew 5:3-6 Our desires can only be met by surrendering to Our God. Everyone “hungers” and “thirsts” — the issue is how we go about filling our desires Jesus is the only one who can fill the needs in our life. Jesus told the woman at the well that if a person drinks the water he gives they will never thirst again. John 4:14 Jesus told the Jews that he was the true bread that comes down from heaven and he provides eternal life. John 6 Jesus is the only one who can fill the needs in our life because every need flows out of the realm of the Spiritual. Our desires can only be met by sanctification by Our God. There should be a longing and drive to pursue righteousness in our life. We are declared “righteous” when we receive the gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus.—“Justification 2 Corinthians 5:21 Romans 5:1 We must deal with our sin nature that is still inside of us. We daily “put on the righteousness of Christ” and progressively grow into his likeness.—“Sanctification" Ephesians 4:22-24 Everyday and every moment I am called to consider what desires I am l seeking to fulfill: Galatians 5:24 As a “disciple of Jesus” he calls me to a higher standard of righteousness: True righteousness goes beyond an individual and has impact on community. Matthew 5:17-20 As a “disciple of Jesus” he calls me to seek his kingdom and righteousness: Matthew 6:33 Next Step: Each day this week ask which appetite will I feed?
